I actually started watching Playful Kiss in December of last year. I got caught up with school and sort of forgot about it, thinking that it wasn't a very great drama. I watched lots of other dramas in between this and the day that I finished it... which was last night. I watched the little youtube extra shows today.
But~~ I think the reason lots of people like this is the fact that it involves a happy ending, full of closure, lots of skinship, and Kim Hyun Joong. (yes, kim hyun joo was that sexy guy in boys over flowers. yeah..the one that *almost* beat lee min ho)
Anyway, here's the review~
The Story Line: 7.5/10
Oh Ha Ni, the girl who's basically good for nothing... falls for the smartest of the smart who rejects her, and when she is forced to move in with him, who knows what could happen.
Yaaaaahhh~ Sooo fake. I know that's mean and I'm okay with the fake aspect. But, that's the major reason that this is a lower score. I mean, I would completely die if I had to move in with my crush, who'd just rejected me. And duude, when is that ever going to happen? Never. Alright, maybe in like, 1 million years.
The happy ending and hilarious parts made me give it more than a 5 though.
Characters: 7.5/10
Seung Jo is such a total turd. Not once in the drama did I ever really end up liking him...only when he smiled and that was because he's absolutely adorable when he smiles. But the entire time it was like:
Can you say grumpy? And then, we'd get the to-die-for smile and you'd be forced to like him for a minute. >:0 Now I'm grumpy for liking such a bully.
Ha Ni made me embarrassed every time I saw her because she was so forward. So basically, I was kinda uncomfortable for the drama because I wasn't very attached to anyone...accept maybe Eun Jo... :)
And I can't forget to talk about the totally stupido secondary female... Yah! In this drama, He Ra just pushed Oh Ha Ni around and it really pisses me off.
Sooo cute~ They like to kiss and hug and they just seem so real...especially for the fact that they fight all the stinking time.
Acting Skills: 10/10
Everyone seemed so real. Props to them.
Connection: 8/10
First time I watched, give this a 5. I watched Playful Kiss again and I liked it a lot better the second time. I could connect better the second time and I don't really know why.
Overall: 42/50
I've heard from lots of other people that they really did enjoy this one. I didn't like it quite so much the first time but I watched it again and enjoyed it that time.... So, you might be someone who likes implausible story lines, with a romance that doesn't quite make sense and lots of skin-ship. :DIf you like Playful Kiss, try: Boys Over Flowers or Hearstrings
